Sree Rudravilasam Vaidyasala Ayurveda Hospital and Research Center was established by Panditarajan Sri. Trikkovil Rama Warrier in 1952. He was the palace physician for the Kochi Royal family and belonged to a generation that valued principles over wealth. The title Panditarajan was bestowed upon Sri. Rama Warrier by the Maharaja of Cochin in recognition of his vast knowledge in Ayurveda and Indian philosophy.

Sree Rudravilasam Vaidyasala is more than a treatment center; it is an abode of knowledge that opens the path of self-realization at physical, mental, and spiritual levels.

His legacy is now carried forward by his granddaughter Dr. Seetha Lekshmi, who along with Dr. Rajeev Kumar, leads the Ayurveda hospital with the same dedication and values. To further this vision, Akanta Ayurveda & Yoga Cherai was established as a premier Ayurveda resort in South India, offering the best possible Ayurvedic treatments in a modern facility, nestled between the backwaters and the Arabian Sea, without compromising on traditional heritage.

Ayurveda is a traditional Indian system of medicine that has been practiced for over 3,000 years—and today, it is more relevant than ever. With Ayurveda, you can enhance your quality of life by understanding your unique constitution and taking control of your own health.

The Sanskrit word Ayurveda translates to “the science of life” or “knowledge of longevity”. At its core, Ayurveda is based on the belief that all living beings are composed of five basic elements: space, air, fire, water, and earth. Understanding your dosha—the unique balance of these elements within you—is essential, as it determines the most suitable diet, lifestyle, and treatment plan for your body and mind.

Ayurveda recognizes the natural cycles of health, disease, and rejuvenation. By aligning with these rhythms, we can maintain balance and harmony in every stage of life.

At Akanta Ayurveda & Yoga Cherai, our approach begins with a deep understanding of your individual needs and goals. We create personalized Ayurvedic treatment plans that combine ancient wisdom with holistic therapies to bring lasting wellness. Benefits of Ayurveda include weight management, stress relief, improved sleep, enhanced immunity, and overall vitality.

The Ayurveda Diet is another key aspect of this holistic system. By balancing the three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—this diet promotes digestion, energy, and long-term well-being, helping you achieve harmony between body, mind, and spirit.

In Ayurveda, food is seen as a form of medicine that has the power to heal and nourish both the body and mind. The Ayurveda Diet emphasizes the consumption of fresh, whole foods that are in season and locally sourced. This ensures that the body receives maximum nutrition while also supporting local agriculture.

One of the key principles of the Ayurveda Diet is finding balance. Each person has a unique constitution or dosha type, and it's important to eat foods that align with our individual needs. By understanding our dosha type and making dietary choices accordingly, we can restore balance within ourselves and promote natural healing.

The Ayurveda Diet encourages mindful eating practices such as chewing food thoroughly and savoring each bite. It also emphasizes the importance of eating regular meals at consistent times throughout the day.

By following an Ayurvedic diet, individuals can experience improved digestion, increased energy levels, better sleep quality, and enhanced overall well-being. It offers a natural approach to nourishing both body and mind for long-term health benefits.

Whether you're looking to address specific health concerns or simply want to adopt a more balanced lifestyle, incorporating elements of the Ayurveda Diet into your daily routine can be transformative. Embrace this ancient wisdom and embark on a journey towards holistic wellness through nourishing your body with wholesome foods aligned with your unique constitution.
