Yoga Benefits
Yoga provides numerous benefits for your well-being, including improved flexibility, strength, and mental clarity. In Ayurveda these benefits are understood through the doshas - yoga steadies Vata, Pitta and Kapha, which is why the practice is paired with therapy rather than offered alone.

In Ayurveda, Prakriti analysis is the assessment of an individual's unique constitution or nature. According to Ayurvedic principles, each person is born with a specific combination of three fundamental energies or doshas known as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These doshas govern various physiological and psychological functions in the body.
Prakriti refers to the inherent balance of these doshas within an individual at the time of birth, which determines their physical, mental, and emotional characteristics, as well as their predisposition to certain imbalances or diseases. Prakriti analysis involves evaluating the dominance of each dosha in an individual's constitution by considering factors such as physical appearance, personality traits, likes and dislikes, tendencies, and susceptibility to diseases.
Once a person's Prakriti is determined, Ayurvedic practitioners can recommend personalized lifestyle modifications, dietary choices, herbal remedies, and therapeutic practices to help maintain or restore the balance of the doshas and promote overall health and well-being. Prakriti analysis is a fundamental aspect of Ayurvedic diagnosis and treatment, aiming to address the root cause of imbalances rather than just treating the symptoms.

Ayurveda Dinacharya refers to the daily routine or regimen recommended in Ayurveda to promote health, prevent disease, and maintain balance in the body and mind. It emphasizes the importance of aligning one's activities with the natural rhythms of the day and night, as well as with the individual's unique constitution or Prakriti.
Ayurveda Dinacharya emphasizes the importance of consistency and mindfulness in daily habits to maintain harmony and balance within the body, mind, and spirit. Following these practices can help enhance overall health and well-being according to Ayurvedic principles.

Get In Touch With Us
Every retreat at Akanta begins with understanding where you are. Before your programme is set, our Ayurvedic physicians assess your constitution and current state of balance, so the yoga, meditation and therapy you receive suit you rather than a fixed timetable. Whether you are new to practice or have been on the mat for years, speak to our team about which programme length fits your goals — or begin with an online consultation before you travel.
Akantamaya is rooted in a physician lineage that began in 1952, when our founder Panditarajan Sri. Trikkovil Rama Warrier served as palace physician to the Kochi Royal family. That tradition continues today under his granddaughter, Dr. Seetha Lekshmi (M.D. Ayurveda). It is what separates a retreat here from a yoga holiday — your practice is shaped by physicians who treat patients, not by a standard class schedule. Read more about our Ayurvedic heritage.
Our Holistic Yoga Packages
Our yoga packages combine asanas, pranayama, and meditation for a comprehensive wellness experience. Rejuvenate your body, calm your mind, and reconnect with your inner self in serene, natural surroundings. Which length suits you depends on what you are working with — a short reset, a deeper reset, or a genuine change in habit. If you are unsure, an online consultation with our physicians will settle it before you book.
Experience a week of rejuvenation through daily yoga, pranayama, and meditation. Perfect for those seeking a quick reset, this package promotes relaxation, physical balance, and mental clarity.
